Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
Our firm has been providing financial services to individuals and businesses in Shelton and the surrounding area since 1994. We have more than 11 years of combined investment experience.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Keith Somers, owner, actually began his financial career by cleaning the offices of the financial management company American Skandia. At the time he was the manager of a small company called Corporate Cleaning and through this job, he was able to talk to people in the offices and made such an impression that he was eventually hired as an intern at the young age of 19. Working as an intern allowed him to still attend school to further his knowledge in the field. He was eventually hired as a full time employee and continued on to get a degree in business finance from Albertus Magnus.
Keith left American Skandia in 1995 for People's Security, a subsidiary of People's bank. There he was the assistant to two financial advisors working the areas of Stratford and Fairfield.
Working his way up, in 1997, Keith moved on to Raymond James as an Independent Advisor. Through his career advancement he helped establish a small office that manages close to 2 million in assets and assisted in managing the town pension for the police and fire departments.
Finally, in 2001 Keith decided it was time to venture out on his own and opened Summit Financial Management. His current clients trust him with about 55 million in assets held in over 400 individual and small business accounts.
